The Possibility of Imperfection: NAMELESS Architecture

Is there such a thing as a pure prototype or perfect archetype in this world? Our adjacent, everyday surroundings are rife with imperfections. Na Unchung and Yoo Sorae (principals, NAMELESS Architecture) recognise this in profound ways, questioning how their architectural practice impacts the fixed foundations of such animperfect world; exploring the fundamentals of architectural practice through the relationship between artificiality and nature, simplicity and complexity, weightlessness and heaviness, permanence and flexibility; and embracing the latent potential − as if it was a primitive space stumbled upon − rather than confined to a certain architectural style. What if their architectural practice was called ‘nameless architecture’? This month’s Frame features five works, including B Gallery, AeLe House, and D Pavilion, through which the tranquil and unexpected qualities of NAMELESS Architecture will be revealed.
