Daejeon University's Munmugwan and West Gate Square _ With support from the surrounding urban development, such as the newly-opened Dongbu Beltway to the east and the recently developed Yongsugol college area to the west, the Yongun Campus, which is the central campus of Daejeon University, has served as an opportunity for the drawing up of a comprehensive plan on the Daejeon University campus. The comprehensive plan's core concept is to establish a scheme that appropriately responds to the rapidly-changing needs of the society and era through maximizing flexibility and overcoming functionalism by "transforming all campus locations and spaces into a sub-structure of campus life," based on an understanding of the 21st century, in which a transformation is being made into a pluralistic and multi-centered society; as well as to reflect on architecture and master planning in the 20th century.
